Welcome to my sixth blog post. The main goal that I wanted to accomplish this week was to better understand how to conduct a market analysis in order to sell a game. In order to achieve this goal I decided to meet with another local indie developer, Ichiro. Ichiro is a developer who has been in the industry for a very long time and has started two companies. His game company Dejobaan unfortunately just shut down due to lack of funding in the indie space. Fortunately he has created a new business that aims to highlight good steam games that are not well known. This meeting proved to be very helpful as it gave me a lot of insight into the video game market. With the current state of the market, it is apparently very difficult to find funding. This has led me to decide that I will create this pitch deck with the intention to use it with angel investors and publishers.
With this audience in mind I am going to put more effort into getting community feedback on our game as well as create the Steam page early in order to garner Wishlist's. Over this week I have also created a feedback form for Unsent (the game I am currently developing). This will help us (my team) better cater our game to our target audience, by getting feedback from avid 3D platformer players. We have also been hard at work developing a marketing strategy to establish a social media presence and have that act as a funnel to the Steam page.
This past week has been focused on finding our target audience so that we can move forward with the pitch deck presentation. This upcoming week I am going to pivot my focus to the Steam page so I can get that set up asap.
